My daughter just got a new iPhone 12 but it's not coming up on the xfi locator app on Android. It does come up on other iPhone "Find My" apps. I restarted the Android phone. And I restarted the iPhone 12. Am I missing something?

When you have multiple devices on one account there needs to be a way to set a default device. Currently the default is all devices. You can select one device but if you turn your phone and the display changes it goes back to all devices so you have to select just one again. We'll try to come up with a friendly way for you to select a focus device and remember that until you change or clear it.

Hi. I have used this app for a long time and love it. However for the last few days I have been unable to locate my ios devices through this app. I don't receive any messages (like unable to locate, etc.) , the map just stays at the default position and when I move around manually I see MY current location but zero of my ios devices. There have been no changes on my device or to my apple ID. Was there a recent update that requires me to make some kind of change? Thank you.

Quick question: when i am trying to locate a device (iPhone 4) it will give me a location a few miles away from where the phone actually is. It will stay on this location for a few refreshes, then will suddenly move to a different location, stay for a few refresh cycles, then suddenly move to the location where the phone actually is. Sometimes the false location is an actual house, sometimes the middle of the desert...Not a complaint, because I love this app, just wondering if this is normal behavior for the app, or if it is server related. Thanks for an awesome product! Answer: Thanks for writing us. That is the expected behavior. To further explain why it behaves so, this is how the app works: - When the app just comes up, it just displays whatever location it can get. This usually is an old, stale location, a location of the device sometime it the past. It then waits for the device to send a new fresh location. When a new fresh location received, the dot is gradually animated to move from old stale location to new location of the map. Its color also changes from grey to green to indicate location is fresh. Hope this helps.

Hello, I just purchased a new phone, but my stored phones and passwords didn't move over. Is there a way on the old device to grab the password?

If you can locate iPhone recently, check the target iPhone's settings. A recent IOS update may require you to go into iCloud settings and accept new Terms and Conditions. If you've been able to log and now can't, try to remove saved login and reenter.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)This may answer some of your questions: If xFi Locator has been working fine, and you now see a message "Failed to retrieve location data from server" - Try to remove saved login and re-enter it back. Can't locate Android device?- If xFi Endpoint is installed and xFi Locator can't find device, make sure the the device is registered and the xFi endpoint shows "Device is registered" message. Also, make sure "Location" service is turned on on the target device where xFi Endpoint is installed. If the Android device can be only located occasionally, do the following on the target Android device that has xFi Endpoint installed:. - Go to Settings/App/xFi Endpoint/Permissions/Location and make sure "Allow all the time" is checked - Go to Settings/App/xFi Endpoint/Mobile data/ and check both"Allow background data usage", "Allow app while Data saver on" - Go to Settings/App/xFi Endpoint/battery and check "Allow background activity" - Go to Settings/App/xFi Endpoint/battery, select "Optimize battery usage", select "all" and make sure that "xFi" is unchecked(off). Can't locate iOS device?- Make sure Find my iPhone is enabled on the target device with the same credential you use to log in to Locator app. Make sure the target device have internet connection. Restart target device if all settings look right but still can't locate. Location of target device is inaccurate?- Without GPS turned on, location of the target device is just approximate and may be way off. You can turn on GPS on target device to get more accurate location but GPS can drain battery quickly, so that may not be an option. The app has no control over the accuracy of the device location. Without GPS, location accuracy just depends on many factors such as how many cell towers in the vicinity, location record of the WIFI router, location determination method used by cellphone carrier, etc. So, just keep in mind that location shown for target devices sometimes can be accurate and sometimes can be off. Need to locate xFi Endpoint device from any device such as iPhone, iPad or a desktop? use this web application at this URL:xfiLocator.comMy target Android device can only be located when it is on Wifi?- Go to settings/Apps/xfi and make sure "Allow background data usage" is checked. What is the FOCUS button for? If there are multiple devices on the same account, the map will automatically zoom into the focused device.
